What upgrade was actually worth the money?

Fair bit of cost blowout chat on here lately which I get. Trying to ask the opposite for once.

We renovated in Brisbane a couple of years back and nearly cut a few extras. One we kept and I would happily pay for again.

What did you spend a bit more on and actually do not regret? Windows, storage, insulation, appliances, outdoor stuff, whatever. Just curious what people would pay for twice.

Pantry. Sounds boring until you live with it daily. Walk-in was the splurge and the kids still fill it in a week but at least stuff has a home.

Would do the same again even with the price we paid.

Ceiling insulation upgrade in the roof. Nobody visits and admires it at parties but the house holds temp way better.

Partner wanted fancy tapware. I wanted batts. I won that round and still hear about the taps sometimes ha.

Extra double power points in the kitchen and study. Electrician quoted it as a variation and we almost said no.

Six months in I am glad every time I do not need a powerboard on the bench.

Low-e double glazing on the west side of the house. Painful line item on the variation sheet and I nearly cut it.

First summer in the lounge without baking by 3pm. Would pay again even though nobody ever compliments your windows at a BBQ.

Sound insulation batts between the kids bedrooms. Adelaide build, timber frame, and the rooms share a wall.

Not perfect silence but late night YouTube on one side does not wake the other anymore. Cheaper than the fights we were having.

Soft-close drawers in the kitchen. Kids slam everything and these still work three years later.

Not glamorous but I would pay for the upgrade again before another stone benchtop colour debate.

SCREEN DOORS THAT ACTUALLY CLOSE

sorry caps lock. we did better mesh doors so flies arent pouring in when the kelpie runs in and out. cheapish and i notice it daily

Popup power points in the island benchtop. Nearly dropped them to save a few hundred on the kitchen variation.

That bench is the homework and charging station now. Worth it every afternoon when nobody is fighting over one GPO.
