Our backyard drops about 1.2m over six metres and the landscaper quote for retaining just landed. I actually laughed then got annoyed because it is more than we spent on the kitchen splashback.
They are talking concrete sleepers, steel posts, excavation down the side path with a mini excavator if access works, geofabric and 20mm drainage aggregate behind the wall, and an engineer letter because the cut is over what they can self-certify. Block wall option was higher again.
I get that access is tight and carting spoil is miserable work. I still want to know what others paid per metre of wall face all in, whether sleepers vs blocks changed the price much, and if anyone got stung on drainage or engineering as extras after the fact.
Outer east Melbourne if that helps. Happy to hear ugly numbers so I can calibrate before I sign.
