What part of your build actually went smoothly?

Everyone talks about the dramas on site. Surely some bits go better than expected though.

For people who have built or renovated, what was the one part that actually went smoothly for you?

Could be the slab, frame, selections, cabinetmaker, tiler, certifier, handover, communication, anything. I am mostly curious whether it came down to a good trade, good planning, dumb luck, or just picking the right builder.

Frame stage, weirdly. Our crew turned up when they said, the frame went up in nine days and the site was clean every afternoon. After all the horror stories I kept waiting for the catch and it never came.

I reckon it came down to the supervisor actually sequencing deliveries properly. Plaster stage later was the usual circus so I know it wasnt just luck across the board.

The cabinetmaker. Small local mob, measured twice, turned up with everything pre assembled and the kitchen went in over two days without a single filler panel drama.

Everything else ran late but that fortnight restored my faith in trades a bit.

The certifier, surprisingly. Booked inspections came on the day booked, reports same evening, one call to clarify a frame query and it was sorted before smoko.

After the horror stories on here I was braced for weeks of chasing. Sometimes the boring parts of the system just work.
